How to age well

Sharing is caring!

We’re all aging, some are aging better than others, but the fact remains, we’re growing older day-by-day.

Since aging is a fact of life, my goal, and hopefully yours, is to age well with a little flair.

We want to have a vibrant quality of life well into our 60s, 70s, 80s, and beyond.

Think about the ones you know who are older than you. Are they aging well?

I know a couple that are in their mid-90s who look like they are in their 70s and act like it too. He continues to run his business, complaining now that he can’t seem to get to the office before 8, and she continues to run her home like she has always done.

That’s aging with flair.

We can’t maintain our vigor as we age if we refuse to take proper care of ourselves now.

Here’s a plan of action that you can start today to help you age with flair.

Dump the Sugar

Sugar is not your friend.

In fact, sugar may be your worst enemy, especially when it comes to aging.

As we age our skin seems to lose its ability to stay where it is supposed to be.

Your cheeks are sagging more, your skin begins to get thinner. This is due to a lack of collagen and elastin in your skin.

Sugar damages the proteins that keep your collagen and elastin in a healthy state.

Your goal is to eliminate as much sugar as possible from your diet and allow your body to repair itself from the damage sugar has caused to your body.

Reduce Inflammation with Anti-inflammatory Foods

Your joints hurt, you’re sick more often, you just don’t have the energy to get up and go.

Inflammation may be the reason you are suffering from many of your health issues.

Switch to anti-inflammatory foods to bring healing to your aching aging body.

Add these to your weekly meal planning:

  • Dark Leafy Greens
  • Colorful Veggies
  • Fatty Fish – Salmon, Mackerel, Tuna
  • Nuts – Almonds, Walnuts, Cashews
  • Herbs – Basil, Thyme

Eat Super Rich Foods with Antioxidants

Unless you live in a “clean room”, you are exposed to environmental toxins every moment of every day. These toxins carry free radicals that attack your body repeatedly.

There’s only so much your cells can withstand before giving up the fight and becoming damaged. All of this leads to not aging well.

To help your cells fight the good fight against these free radicals, you’ll need to add super rich foods to your daily diet. These are foods full of antioxidants that support the health of your cells and attacks the toxins that are damaging your cells.

Add these antioxidant rich foods to your weekly meal planning:

  • Berries – Blueberries, Strawberries, Raspberries
  • Grapes – Purple, Red, Blue
  • Nuts – Walnuts, Brazil Nuts
  • Dark Leafy Greens
  • Orange Veggies – Sweet Potatoes, Carrots, Butternut and Acorn Squash
  • Green Tea
  • Whole Grains
  • Beans – Lentils, Peas
  • Fatty Fish – Salmon, Mackerel, Tuna

Build Muscle with Protein

Are you noticing that your muscle mass is getting a little squishy?

Do you tell yourself you’ll start exercising more tomorrow or next week?

Protein is power.

The older you grow, the less muscle mass you’ll have. You need more protein as you age to help you have the energy to exercise and stay active, keeping your muscle mass firm and strong.

Add these healthy protein sources to your weekly meal planning:

  • Eggs – Free Range
  • Almonds
  • Oats
  • Greek Yogurt – Plain
  • Broccoli
  • Brussels Sprouts
  • Quinoa
  • Lentils
  • Tuna
  • Chicken Breast – Free Range Organic
  • Turkey Breast – Free Range Organic

Keep Your Digestive System Healthy

Your gut is your second brain, and it knows all about your health.

When your gut is healthy, your body is healthy.

As we age, we tend to allow ourselves to slack off from eating healthier, staying active, and living life well. This allows your body to begin to break down and age faster than it should.

Keeping your gut healthy and happy should be priority one if you are wanting to age well and with flair.

You can easily keep your gut happy and healthy by:

  • Drinking Water throughout the day – half your body weight in ounces
  • Eat foods rich in vitamins, minerals, fiber, and protein
  • Take probiotics to keep your system flowing regularly
  • Exercise

It’s true we’re aging daily. But what’s not true is that you will fall apart as you age. Begin now, no matter your age, to take care of your body so that you can age with flair.
