Sharing is caring!
Do you believe that your thoughts and your health are connected?
Look around, you may see others who are in poor health and are consistently living in a world of negativity. Is there a connection?
I believe there is.
We can eat healthy, get plenty of sleep, exercise daily, yet have poor health due to having a negative mindset.
It’s true, your thoughts, attitude and your mental tone have an incredible amount of power over your health.
Change your mental mindset, change your health. The best place to start is with gratitude.
Gratitude is the readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness. Every day will give you something to be grateful for; your challenge is to be ready to be grateful and show appreciation for those moments.
Let me share why gratitude is essential for your health and well-being…
1. Create feelings of satisfaction
How do you feel when you receive a letter, card, message from someone showing their gratitude for something you’ve done for them?
It’s that warm and fuzzy feeling that brightens your day.
What if you showed gratitude toward others by sending them a letter, a card or message? Imagine how much you’ll brighten their day and yours.
The more you share, the more your satisfaction with life will increase. You’ll notice that you’re happier, sleep better, and feel better about yourself.
2. Relationship Builder
Expressing your gratitude to your family and / or co-workers is a great way to build your relationships.
You know that you work better when you know you are appreciated. Well, those around you are the same way. People thrive on affirmations and expressions of gratitude.
Start today to express your gratitude to your family, friends, and co-workers. Your stress levels will drop because you’re seeing the good in things and those around you are motivated by your gratitude.
3. Improves your mental wellness
At the end of the day, you may find it hard to find something to be grateful for; especially when the day has been more than a challenge to get through.
Do you keep a journal?
If so, go back through your journal looking for entries that are uplifting. The dark cloud that settled on you during the day will be blown away by finding something to smile about.
Let me encourage you to keep a journal, one that records the good and the not so good moments of your day. A journal is your best therapy for your mental wellness.
4. You’ll sleep better
When you find things to be grateful for instead of focusing on the negativity, it allows your mind to relax. This, in turn, leads to better sleep.
Do you want to fall asleep faster?
Grab your journal and write about your day, release negative feelings and end your daily journal with everything you’re grateful for. You’ll fall asleep much faster when your mind is focused on gratitude.
Life happens and there are many moments that are challenging; but when you choose to practice gratitude daily, you’ll have the ability to get through those challenging moments with a stronger mindset. Your stress levels drop, you’ll eat healthier, sleep better, and be a pleasure to be around.
